NEWVILLE, Pa. – The Bucknell men's cross country team took the top three scored places to win the title in the 4k portion of the Dickinson Long-Short Invitational on Saturday. Overall, the Bison had 10 runners finish in the top 20 in a field of 196. Official team scores were unavailable.
Luke Giugliano was the top collegiate runner with a time of 12:03, and was followed by teammates John Westwood and Andrew Kuchta in second and third, respectively. The overall race was won by Dickinson alum Coby Horowitz in 11:46.
Finishing just outside of the top 10 for the Bison were John Kirna and Ross Pirnie in 11th and 12th, respectively. Will Bordash, Peter Murray and Jordan Jackson finished in a pack from 14th to 16th, while Andrew Kirna was 18th and Kyle Adams was 20th.
“Considering it has been a high volume and high intensity couple of weeks, I was very pleased with our results,” said Bucknell head coach Kevin Donner. “The 4k distance is a good tune-up for next week's meet at Louisville, and the hilly course will prepare us well for the Patriot League Championships next month at Colgate. We got exactly what we were hoping for.”
The Bison follow the Dickinson Invitational with two events next weekend. One group of runners will compete at Lehigh's Paul Short Run on Friday, Oct. 2, while another group will run at the Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday, Oct. 3.
