LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Bucknell's unbeaten streak came to an end on Friday as Loyola Marymount scored once in the first half and twice more in the second half to take a 3-0 decision at Sullivan Field.
Loyola Marymount (1-2) kept the ball on Bucknell's (1-1-1) side of the field for the majority of the contest, outshooting the Bison 19-3.
The Lions got on the board in the 27th minute of the game following a Bucknell foul. Jocelyn Blankenship drilled a free kick from the left side just outside the box to the top right corner for the score.
Loyola Marymount extended its lead in the 53rd minute off a cross from Jill Farley, that was deflected around, landing on the foot of Maddie Medved, who was able to find the back of the net for the 2-0 lead. The Lions scored their third goal of the evening in the 67th minute off an unassisted attack from Sarah Sanger. Sanger was able to gain possession of the ball at midfield, make a move past three defenders and strike the ball into the corner of the goal.
Cora Climo paced the team with two shot attempts in the contest. Goalkeeper Jessica Ratner finished the match with five saves.
Bucknell concludes its California road swing on Sunday at Long Beach State. Game time is set for 3 p.m. Eastern.
