LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell senior Kristen Zahn has been named to the All-Mid-Atlantic Region Second Team by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. The Bison have had an All-Region selection in each of the past two seasons.
Zahn was voted the Patriot League Player of the Year after leading the conference with a Bucknell single-season record 53 RBIs. She also led the league in doubles with 15, which tied a school record, and in hit-by-pitches with nine. She ranked in the top five in batting average (.385), slugging (.609), on-base percentage (.481), runs (37), hits (60), home runs (6), total bases (95) and walks (21).
Zahn closes her career as a three-time All-Patriot League honoree, including First Team status as a senior. She led the charge as the Bison set a program record with 35 wins this season and a second straight appearance in the conference championship game.
Thanks to a consistent career and outstanding senior season, Zahn will leave the program with her name all over the school's record books. In addition to her single-season records in RBIs and doubles, she ranks in the top 10 on the career list in RBIs (104), home runs (15), batting average (.351), hits (161) and runs (89).
Academic accolades are also a part of Zahn's resume. She earned a spot on the Academic All-Patriot League Team in each of the past two seasons. An accounting and financial management major, she made the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll at the end of every season while carrying a 3.37 GPA.
