PURCHASE, N.Y. -- Freshman Daniel Levin posted his second career top-10 finish and the Bucknell men's golf team placed in a tie for seventh at the Met Intercollegiate on Saturday. The unique one-day, 36-hole event was played at two different historic Westchester County golf courses: Century Country Club and Old Stone Country Club.
Levin began the day with a 78 at Century CC, then carded a 77 at Old Stone CC in the afternoon. His 155 total put him in a three-way tie for eighth place in a field of 54 players. Levin also placed T-8th at the Lehigh Invitational back in October.
Bucknell's first-round leader was D.J. Magee with a 76. He then shot 83 in round two and finished in a tie for 19th place at 159. Also for the Bison, Peter Scialabba totaled a 164 (81-83) and C.J. Zachary 166 (82-84). J.B. Thompson shot 176 (94-82) playing unattached.
As a team, Bucknell tallied a 317 in the morning and a 327 in round two. The 644 total put the Bison ahead of Brown and Fordham in the nine-team field. Temple won the event with a 616, nine shots in front of runner-up Army.
Temple's Brandon Matthews was the individual champion with a 6-over-par 147 (74-73). Harvard's Kendrick Vinar was three shots back.
The Bison are right back in action on Sunday for the first of two rounds of the Lafayette Invitational. Play begins with a 1 p.m. shotgun start at Silver Creek CC.
