KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. -- The Bucknell women's golf team opened its 2015 spring season at the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Classic on Sunday, and freshman Lindsay Dodovich led the squad with an 85. Emily Larson carded an 86 as the Bison posted a 363 team score.
With snow still blanketing the Bucknell Golf Club fairways, these are the team's first outdoor swings of the season. The Bison had to count two scores in the 90s and sit two strokes behind Presbyterian in 40th place in the largest field of any collegiate tournament.
North Florida opened with a 297, and the Ospreys lead Troy by one shot and Chattanooga by two at the top of the team standings. Melania Bajo Geijo of Jacksonville State has the individual lead after firing a 68 on Sunday. Bailey Gray of Samford is in second place with a 69.
The 54-hole tournament continues through Tuesday at the Oak Point and Osprey Point courses at Kiawah Resort. Bucknell played Oak Point on Sunday and will move over to Osprey Point for Monday's second round.
