Women's Golf Improves on Day 2 at Kiawah Classic

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. -- The Bucknell women's golf team lopped 24 strokes off of its opening-round score, posting a 339 tally on Monday in round two of the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Classic. Emily Larson paced the Bison with an 82 as they passed High Point and Presbyterian to move up to 38th place.
Larson opened with an 86 on Sunday, and her 168 total for 36 holes leads the team by four strokes over freshman Lindsay Dodovich, who followed a team-low 85 with an 87 on Monday. Jen Lee (84) and Nicole Mischler (86) also made significant improvements on their first-round scores.
Tournament host College of Charleston fired a 288 team score to move into the lead with a 588 total. Troy is second at 598, and first-round leader North Florida slipped to third place at 601.
Laura Fuenfstueck of College of Charleston shot 71 on Monday and is 3-under for the tournament. Samford's Bailey Gray (-2) is the only other player in the field under par. Mary Dawson of North Florida and Jessica Welch of Jacksonville are even with one round to play.
The 40-team field will now be split into championship and consolation flights and wrap up on Tuesday at the Oak Point and Osprey Point courses at the Kiawah Resort.
