QUEENS, N.Y. - Bucknell bounced back from a loss against nationally-ranked Princeton earlier in the day with a 6-1 win over Fordham in a neatural site match in Queens, New York on Saturday. The Bison improved to 2-1 with the victory.
Bucknell won both doubles matches that were completed and took five of the six singles matches. Sophomore Bryan Adams clinched the victory with a 6-4, 7-6 (4) win at No. 2 singles.
Freshman William Szamosszegi notched his first career win for the Bison with a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles. Nick Bybel, ranked 114th nationally, Daniel Wright and Maxwell Kane also had wins in singles play.
Freshman Ben Gerber and Kane had a 2-0 day at No.3 doubles. After posting a 6-4 win against Princeton, the duo turned in a 6-3 verdict against Fordham Bybel and Adams took the victory at No. 1 singles, while Octavio Canibe Wright led 5-4 in an unfinished match at No. 2.
"This was the first doubleheader we have played since I have been at Bucknell and the guys all handled it extremely well," said Bybel. "We played nationally-ranked Princeton in the morning, and despite losing 6-1 everyone had tight matches that could have gone either way. We rebounded and beat Fordham 6-1, a team that we had lost to last year.
"We are progressing exactly how we should be," Bybel continued. "With everyone buying into coach Schwartz and coach Miller's program we are going to be an extremely tough team to beat."
Bison Fall to Nationally-Ranked Princeton, 6-1
PRINCETON, N.J. – Freshman Ben Gerber improved to 2-0 this spring in singles dual play, but Princeton, which is listed 57th in the latest ITA rankings, won the other points for a 6-1 victory over the Bucknell men's tennis team Saturday morning. Gerber was the winner at No. 5 singles, topping fellow rookie Ben Tso 6-2, 7-6 (5). His other win this spring came last Sunday against Delaware in straight sets. Tso was ranked in the top 50 nationally in his age group during his high school days.

The Tigers (4-0) took two of the three doubles matches and claimed the other five singles matches. Kane did play well at No. 6 singles, but was edged 7-4, 2-6, 10-7.
“We really came out and battled a tough Princeton team from the first strike of the ball,” commented Bison head coach Craig Schwartz. “Matches like this will really prepare us for Patriot League play. I am really proud of the fight we showed. It gave the guys belief we can compete with the best.”
