LEWISBURG, Pa. – Winter weather has impacted the Bucknell baseball schedule for a second consecutive week. The Bison were slated to open their home schedule this weekend against Buffalo, but the series has been moved from Depew Field to Heathwood Hall School in Columbia, South Carolina. The two teams will meet in a doubleheader beginning at noon on Saturday and will play a single game Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
This weekend's three-game series will mark the first-ever matchup between the Bison and Bulls.
Bucknell brings an impressive 4-1 record into the weekend and is coming off a three-game sweep of VCU in Myrtle Beach last weekend. Patriot League Player of the Week Joe Ogren leads the Bison in a number of offensive categories, including batting average (.619), slugging percentage (.952) and on-base percentage (.667). He ranks in the top 20 nationally in all three.
Buffalo is 0-3 on the season and had four games at last weekend's VMI Tournament cancelled. The Bulls have not played since Feb. 13-15 when they lost to James Madison once and Gardner-Webb twice.
Bucknell was an impressive 16-5 at home last year and must now wait until March 17 vs. Saint Joseph's to play at Depew Field. Following this weekend in South Carolina, the Bison will travel farther south for spring break and play seven games in Florida March 8-14.
