PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Senior Nick Bybel recorded a big win over Duquesne's Rich Robbie, but the Bison came up just short in a 4-3 loss to a tough Dukes team on Saturday.
Bybel and Robbie have played in each of the past three seasons, with Robbie taking the win in the first two matches. Bybel turned the tables on Saturday with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles.
Bybel also helped the Bison clinch the doubles point, teaming with Bryan Adams for a 6-4 win at No. 1. Ben Gerber and Maxwell Kane won by the same score at No. 3.
Daniel Wright joined Bybel as singles winners for the Bison, topping Adam Blasinsky 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4.
Duquesne has lost just once this season as it improved to 6-1 with the win. Bucknell fell to 3-3 on the year and has yet to drop below .500 this season.
The Bison will have a long break before returning to action with five matches in Orlando, Florida from March 9-12. The schedule, which is subject to change, includes contests against Hampton, Bethune-Cookman, Saint Cloud State, Southern Mississippi and Creighton.
