Roche, Bendzinski Earn Women's Track and Field Weekly Awards

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Senior Morgan Roche and freshman Christine Bendzinski both won individual events at the Bucknell Tune-up on Friday night. They were rewarded for their victories with M-F Athletic Patriot League weekly awards, announced by the conference on Monday.
Roche earned her first Patriot League Female Track Athlete of the Week award after taking first in the 1,000-meter run on Friday. She qualified for the ECAC Championships with a time of 2:54.74, which ranks fourth in the Patriot League this season. Roche has also qualified for ECACs in the 800m.
Bendzinski, who is one of only three Patriot League runners with a faster 1,000m than Roche this season, was named the conference's Rookie of the Week after winning the 800m with a converted time of 2:12.30. She now owns the fastest time in the league in two events and has qualified for the ECAC Championships in three. Bendzinski earned Female Track Athlete of the Week honors last week.
Bucknell will travel to Navy to compete in the Patriot League Championships this weekend. The three-day event begins on Friday and wraps up on Sunday.
