Women's Swimming and Diving Wins Eight Events in Season Opener

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women's swimming and diving team won eight individual events in its season-opening meet against UMBC on Saturday at Kinney Natatorium. Senior Emma Levendoski led the way for the Bison with three victories.
Levendoski wrapped up a perfect career record against UMBC with wins in the 50-, 100- and 200-yard backstroke. The senior competed in 12 individual races against the Retrievers in the past four seasons and took first in all 12. Her title in the 50 back on Saturday came in a time of 27.25. She won the 100 back in 56.61 and the 200 back in 2:02.90. Bucknell's Rachel Perry was the runner-up in the 100 back, while Julianna Foss took second in the 200 back.
Foss also had an individual win on the day, touching the wall in 57.24 to take first in the 100 fly. Other winners for the Bison included Brittany Bishop (200 free), Dani Potis (200 fly), Abigail Rosenberg (100 free) and Rachel McGoff (100 I.M.).
The Bison dominated the 200 free race, taking the top four spots. Bishop's win came in 1:55.93, while McGoff was just hundredths of a second behind her in 1:55.97. Caroline Edelman and Stephanie Boyd finished third and fourth, respectively.
Hania Moro and Madyson Popalis won three events apiece for UMBC. The Retrievers are the defending champions in the America East.
Bucknell will have a weekend off before competing in its Patriot League opener at Boston University on Saturday, Oct. 17. The meet is scheduled for 2 p.m.
