BOSTON, Mass. – Emma Levendoski, Dani Potis and Julie Byrne all won an individual event, but the Bucknell women's swimming and diving team lost its Patriot League opener at Boston University 194-106 on Saturday at Competition Pool.
It isn't often that Levendoski finishes anything but first in a backstroke race, but it was one of her own teammates that touched the wall before her in the 200 back on Saturday. Byrne, a freshman, won the event in 2:03.40, while Levendoski was the runner-up in 2:03.90. Junior Rachel Perry took fourth to give the Bison three of the top four spots.
Levendoski did pick up a win in the 100 back. She finished more than a half of a second in front of Boston's Isabella Olivares. The Bison senior has now won 65 of the 87 backstroke races in which she has competed, which includes invitationals, Patriot League Championships and the NCAA Championships.
Potis won her title in the 200 butterfly, finishing with a time of 2:08.28. She bested the Terriers' Cece Simpson by just under a second. Potis added a third place in the 1,000 free.
Brittany Bishop posted runner-up finishes in the 100 free and 200 free, while Diana Hanson was second in both the 100 breast and 200 breast. Lindsay Smalec tacked on a runner-up finish for the Bison in the 100 fly.
Bucknell returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 24, when it hosts Pittsburgh at Kinney Natatorium. The meet is scheduled for a noon start time.
