
Six Bison Singles Players Advance to Quarterfinals on First Day of Bucknell Tournament

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Six of Bucknell's seven men's tennis singles players advanced to the quarterfinals of their flights on the opening day of the three-day Bucknell Tournament Friday. The Bison also had two doubles teams advance to the semifinals in Flight A and another reach the finals in Flight B.
Nick Bybel, Daniel Wright and Maxwell Kane posted victories in Flight A singles, while Ben Gerber and Octavio Canibe advanced in Flight B singles play. Freshman Timber Erskine moved on to the quarterfinals in Flight C, winning a marathon match, 7-5, 1-6, (14-12).
Bybel and Kane teamed up in Flight A doubles play and posted an 8-1 victory after receiving a first-round bye. Bryan Adams and Wright also moved on with an 8-5 win after a first-round bye.
Canibe and Gerber are in Saturday's Flight B doubles final after two victories on Friday. They will face a pair from fellow Patriot League school Loyola (Md.).
The Bucknell Tournament will continue Saturday and Sunday. It is the first event of the fall for the Bison, who will also host a two-day event Sept. 27-28.
