Bybel Wins Big in Singles and Doubles at Saint Joseph?s

PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- Bucknell finished strong on the final day of the Saint Joseph's Invitational. The Bison walked away with a singles title, in addition to Flight 1 and 2 doubles titles.
Junior Nick Bybel was the star of the show for Bucknell, defeating Badr Ouabdelmoumen from Drexel in the final round of Flight 1 Singles, then partnering up with freshman Maxwell Kane to claim the Flight 1 Doubles title over a duo from Saint Joseph's University.
Octavio Canibe and Ben Gerber claimed their second doubles title and now boast an 8-0 overall record as a team. They defeated Army's Peter Sienko and Cam Voigt, 8-6, in the final round of play.
Sophomore Bryan Adams was knocked out of the semifinals round due to an injury, and teammate Daniel Wright fell short of competing in the final round when he lost to Saint Joseph's Tristan Boustany.
Newcomer William Szamosszegi performed well in his first collegiate tournament, making it to the semifinal round of play in Flight 4 singles.
The team will be back in action on its home court next weekend as part of the Bucknell Tournament, which is set to begin on Friday, Sept. 26.
