Men?s Tennis Undefeated in Singles Play after Day One of Tournament

The team is made up of five freshmen, all of who went undefeated on Friday and will advance to play again on Saturday.
In Flight A Singles, Daniel Wright (6-1, 6-0) and Maxwell Kane (1-6, 6-3 (10-7)) won their respective matches over opponents from Lafayette and Saint Francis (Pa.).
Ben Gerber represented the freshmen class in Flight B Singles with a win over Eli Cerdan from Saint Francis (7-6, 6-3). His senior teammate Octavio Canibe defeated Bloomsburg's Scott Langenbach, 6-1, 6-2.
Sophomore Bryan Adams (6-2, 6-2) and freshman William Szamosszegi (6-1, 6-1) prevailed in Flight C Singles. Timber Erskine was the only Bison in Flight D Singles, and he walked away with a win over Luke Timber from Lafayette, 6-1, 6-0.
In Flight A Doubles play, Canibe and Gerber lost their first match as a duo, after winning eight in a row, at the hands of Lafayette's Brandon Goldstein and Brian Stefanowicz, 8-3; they won their second match (8-7) over Bloomsburg. Kane and Wright won both of their doubles matches and will face Goldstein and Stefanowicz in the final round.
Szamosszegi and Erskine won their first match together over Lafayette (8-6), followed by a win over Bloomsburg (8-6). They will meet Plamin Avuski and Lawson Barter from Saint Francis in the final round.
Junior Nick Bybel will participate in the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa this weekend. He received a first-round bye after being named the 12th seed in the prequalifying round. Bybel will play in the second round on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
The Bucknell Tournament will start up again on Saturday at 9 a.m. on the Gerhard Fieldhouse Courts, and will conclude Saturday afternoon.
