LEWISBURG, Pa. – Louis Behnen posted three wins and senior captains Erik Heinemann and Ben Seketa had two victories apiece to lead the Bucknell men's swimming and diving team to victories over Boston U. and George Washington Saturday afternoon at Kinney Natatorium. The Bison defeated fellow Patriot League member Boston by a 159.5-139.5 margin and registered a 249-37 victory over the Colonials in the double dual. The Terriers defeated George Washington 238-49.
Saturday's meet marked the first scored event of the year for Bucknell, which is now 2-0 after facing UMBC two weeks ago in an unscored meet.
Behnen led the way with his three victories as he finished first in the 1,000 free, 500 free and 200 IM. His time of 1:52.89 in the 200 IM was just .07 shy of 10th place in program history. Behnen led a 1-2-3-4 Bison sweep in the 500 free while he and Brian Phillips helped Bucknell swimmers claim the top two spots in the 1,000 free.
Heinemann claimed first place in the 200 free and 100 fly. He also had a runner-up showing in the 100 free where he was the top Bison finisher.
Seketa swept the 100 and 200 breast, winning the 100 by a slim .01 margin.
Steve Grune (50 free) and Tyler Wenzel (one-meter diving) also posted wins for the Bison.
Bucknell and Boston U. combined to win every event as the Bison totaled nine victories and the Terriers seven.
Freshman Chris Devlin posted two second-place finishes in the 100 and 200 back and was part of second-place relays in the 200 medley relay and 400 free relay. Fellow rookie Triston Loux gave the Bison three events where a rookie was their top finisher as he touched the wall second in the 200 fly.
Bucknell will hit the road for the first time this year next Saturday, Oct. 25, when it travels to Pittsburgh for a non-league dual meet.
