PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Louis Behnen finished first in two events and was runner-up in another to lead the Bucknell men's swimming and diving team in its first road meet of the year Saturday afternoon at Pittsburgh. The Bison lost by a 189.5-109.5 score to the Panthers to fall to 2-1 on the young season.
Behnen finished first in the 500 free, which was perhaps Bucknell's deepest event in the meet as Bison swimmers took three of the top four spots. Freshman Chris Devlin placed second behind Behnen and junior Brian Phillips was fourth. Behnen's other victory came in the 200 free, where he tied for first place. The sophomore also placed second in the 200 back, touching the wall more than 1.5 seconds ahead of the third-place finisher.
Erik Heinemann recorded the Bison's other victory in the meet, winning the 200 fly by a slim .01 seconds. The senior co-captain was also Bucknell's top finisher in the 100 free.
Ben Seketa had a solid meet with second-place showings in the 100 and 200 breast, while Steve Grune took second in the 50 free.
Despite placing fourth off both diving boards, Bison Tyler Wenzel had a solid meet. His score of 264.60 off the one-meter board was the second-best of his career, while he also eclipsed 250.00 off the three-meter board.
Bucknell will be idle until Nov. 8 when it will host a quad meet with Patriot League foes American, Lafayette and Navy.
