Women's Golf Finishes 6th at Bison Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. --�Bucknell seniors�Lauren Bernard,�Kasha Scott�and�Bridget Wilcox�also posted scores in the 70s in the final round of the Bison Invitational on Sunday, helping the team to a sixth-place finish in a field of 17 at the Bucknell Golf Club. Bernard was the team's top individual, finishing 14th with a 54-hole total of 233.
Bernard carded her second straight 78 after opening the tournament with a 77. Wilcox and Scott both shot 77 on Sunday. Wilcox tied for 16th, while Scott tied for 19th.
Also for the Bison,�Emily Timmons�posted an 81 and freshman�Emily Larson�shot 83, giving them a final-round team score of 313. On Saturday, Bucknell had team totals of 310 and 323.
The Bison also sent out a four-player "B" squad this weekend. Freshman�Ellie McGuire�shot 74-83-84 and was that team's low player with a 241, good for 31st place in her collegiate debut.
William & Mary won the tournament with a 912 total, 10 shots better than Columbia and Seton Hall. The Pirates turned in the low score of the day with a 298, which was the only sub-300 round of the tournament.
Bucknell placed sixth with a 946 composite, but the Bison bettered defending champion Boston University by nine strokes to finish first among the four Patriot League teams in the field. The Terriers placed seventh with a team score of 955, while 2013 Patriot League champion Lehigh was ninth at 976 and Navy was 16th at 1,112.
Michelle Piyapattra of Columbia and Victoria Nguyen of Siena both posted 222 to tie for the individual lead.�
The Bison will be back in action Sept. 20-22 at the Yale Intercollegiate.
