NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Lauren Bernard and Emily Timmons both fired 77s and Bridget Wilcox shot a 79 to lead the Bucknell women's golf team on day one of the Yale Intercollegiate on Friday afternoon. The Bison compiled a 316 team score and sit in 10th place out of 17 teams with two more rounds still to come on Saturday and Sunday.
Timmons' 77 marked a new career best, beating her opening-round 78 at the Bucknell Invitational two weeks ago. Bernard's 77 equaled her season low, and Wilcox made it three Bison in the 70s with her 79.
Also for Bucknell, freshman Ellie McGuire shot 83 and Kasha Scott 86.
Host Yale posted an 8-over 292 team score. The Bulldogs have a five-shot lead on Boston University. Xavier (303), Charleston Southern (303) and Penn (304) round out the top five.
Bucknell is five shots behind ninth-place Seton Hall and one in front of 11th-place Dartmouth. Patriot League rival Lehigh is in 12th place after opening with a 323.
Round two begins Saturday morning. The Bison will go off the No. 10 tee beginning at 9:40 a.m.
