Men's Tennis' Nick Bybel Wins Two Titles at Bucknell Quad

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell sophomore Nick Bybel won titles at both Flight A singles and Flight A doubles at this weekend's Bucknell Quad men's tennis tournament, which wrapped up play Sunday. Bybel has now won the singles crown at the Bucknell Quad two straight years. He was one of two Bison to claim singles titles as Scott Bernstein won Flight C.
The three-day Bucknell Quad began on Friday. Sunday's play featured the championship and consolation championship matches. Bybel and Bernstein were the lone Bison to play singles on Sunday. Bybel earned his crown by defeating Luke Gensburg of Colgate, 6-3, 2-6, (10-8), while Bernstein won 4-6, 6-1, (10-8) over Colgate's Dean Koman.
Bybel teamed with Aidan Lynch in doubles play and the pair defeated Gensburg and Bobby Berkowitz by an 8-3 margin. This tournament marked the debut of Bybel and Lynch as a doubles team.
The only other Bison to see court time Sunday was the doubles team of Bernstein and Jonathan DeFrancesch. The pair won the consolation bracket of Flight A by an 8-2 score over a team from Saint Francis (Pa.).
Bucknell had a total of five players advance as far as the semifinals in singles play over the weekend, while three doubles team reached the semifinals of Flight A doubles.
The Bison will return to action next weekend at the Mount St. Mary's Invitational. The three-day event begins Friday, Sept. 13.
