Bucknell Women's Rowing's Varsity Eight Defeats Penn for First Time in Program History

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Schuylkill River) -The Bucknell women's rowing team raced against both Drexel and Penn on the Schuylkill River on Saturday and the Bison varsity eight came away with two victories. Bucknell's win over Penn marked the first time the Bison varsity eight has ever defeated the Quakers.
"It was a super day of racing for us," commented Bucknell head coach Stephen Kish. "Having both race experiences in the same day is exciting for us and an important part of our season. It was great to see the v8 finish on top of Penn for the first time ever."
Bucknell's varsity eight victory over Penn was a close one as the Bison won by less than a second.
Penn and Bucknell also raced in second varsity eight, and a pair of four races with the Quakers winning all three.
Earlier in the day the Bison took on Drexel and won the varsity eight by nearly seven seconds. The Dragons claimed the second varsity eight and varsity four races.
Bucknell will wrap up its busy weekend Sunday at the Occoquan Sprints in Fairfax, Va.
