Four Bucknell Women's Rowing Boats Advance to Finals at Occoquan Sprints

FAIRFAX, Va. (Occoquan Reservoir) –A total of seven Bucknell women's rowing boats were in action on Sunday at the Occoquan Sprints. All four Bison eights advanced to the finals of their events, while all three fours finished in the top three of their heats. Bucknell's varsity eight had the best finals finish with a second-place showing.
Two Bison boats advanced to the finals of the varsity eight competition. Bucknell's varsity eight was second in its heat to Temple and then was the runner-up to Navy in the finals. The Bison second varsity eight was second to Navy in its heat and then placed fifth in the finals.
The Bucknell junior varsity eight was third in its heat and sixth in the finals, while the novice eight was second in its heat and fifth in the finals.
Finals in the fours were not contested, but Bucknell still had solid showings from all three of its fours. Bucknell's two entrants in the varsity four competition placed second and third in their heats, while the novice four was second in its heat race.
Bucknell will return to action next weekend at the two-day Knecht Cup April 13-14 on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J.
