Bison men's golf in 8th at Navy Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Dan Bernard's 2-over-par 73 sparked the Bucknell men's golf team to a 304 team score and an eighth-place standing out of 21 teams at the Navy Invitational, which got underway Saturday at the USNA Golf Course.
Bernard is tied for seventh place in the individual standings, three shots behind Evan Beck of Wake Forest and Mac McLaughlin of Virginia.
Bucknell had three other scores of 78 or better. Peter Scialabba posted a 76, Schuyler Stitzer carded a 77, and Jon Hartman shot 78.
Among the seven teams ahead of the Bison in the standings are host Navy and three Atlantic Coast Conference squads in Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest. The Midshipmen and Cavaliers are tied for the lead at 294, followed by the Hokies and Demon Deacons at 296. Penn is fifth at 298, followed by Long Island at 300 and George Washington at 301.
Bucknell leads three other Patriot League teams in Lehigh (310), Lafayette (318) and Colgate (331).
The second and final round is slated for Sunday morning.
