MALVERN, Pa. -- Peter Scialabba carded a 1-over-par 72 and Dan Bernard shot a 73 to lead the Bucknell men's golf team to a 303 team score on Tuesday in the final round of the Villanova Wildcat Invitational at White Manor Country Club. The 303 was tied for the third-best team score in the 13-team field, and it helped the Bison jump past Army into a ninth-place final standing.
Bucknell opened with rounds of 314 and 311 on Monday, but Scialabba and Bernard both went low in round three. The Bison started the day on the 10th hole, and Scialabba carded a 1-under 35 on his opening nine holes, highlighted by a birdie on the par-3 12th. He was still 1-under through 10 holes before making back-to-back bogeys at 2 and 3, but he got one back with a birdie at No. 7 and finished with his best round of the year.
Bernard birdied the 12th and 17th holes and shot even par on the outward nine en route to his 73.
Also for Bucknell, Schuyler Stitzer posted a 78, Jon Hartman shot 80, and Thomas Walter finished with an 82.
Temple posted the best team score of the day with a 296 and won the individual title with a 54-hole score of 900. Rhode Island took second at 903, followed by Villanova and Georgetown at 905.
Braden Shattuck of Delaware shot 1-over 214 to claim the individual title. Villanova's Steve Skurla was runner-up at 217, followed by Branden Chicorka of Rhode Island and Gregory Podufal of Georgetown at 218.
Bernard and Scialabba both moved into the top-20 on Tuesday. Bernard finished T-13th at 228, while Scialabba's 230 was good for a T-20th finish.
The Bison are back in action Apr. 7-8 at the Lafayette Invitational at Northampton Country Club in Easton, Pa.
