Bucknell Women's Lax Falls at No. 15/19 Johns Hopkins, 19-4

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell women's lacrosse team fell to a nationally ranked opponent for the third straight game to start the season, this time dropping a 19-4 decision to No. 15/19 Johns Hopkins on Saturday at Homewood Field. Four different Bison scored goals, while the Blue Jays (3-0) were led by Taylor D'Amore with six goals and three assists and Sammy Cermack with a goal and seven assists.
Madison Hurwitz, Ryan Wenk, Emily Kookogey and Emily Becker found the net for the Bison, who scored two goals in each half. Sam Rickels and Claire Switala dished out assists. Kookogey now has a goal in each game this season, while Hurwitz has a point in all three contests.
Caroline O'Neill made six saves in goal for the Bison, while the Johns Hopkins tandem of Cosette Larash and KC Emerson combined for six as well.
Bucknell played Johns Hopkins even on draw controls, as the Blue Jays won 13 and Bucknell 12. However the Bison committed 28 turnovers compared to 19 for Johns Hopkins.
Sophie Kleinert led the Bison with four draw controls and Adrienne Wendling added three more. Wendling and Katelyn Miller tallied four ground balls apiece.
Johns Hopkins also received four goals from Sarah Taylor and three goals and an assist from Jen Cook.
Bucknell is in the midst of a six-game road stretch, with a contest at George Mason up next on Friday at 7 p.m.
