LEWISBURG, Pa. - For the second time in three weeks, a Bucknell women's rowing boat has been named the Susquehanna Valley Limousine Bison Athlete of the Week. On Monday, the lightweight eight earned the honor, following the varsity eight's citation after winning last month's Patriot League Championship.
The lightweight eight had a banner weekend, winning a pair of medals at the Dad Vail Regatta and the Eastern Sprints. The boat opened the weekend with a first-place finish at the Dad Vail Regatta, capturing its third gold medal in the last four years at the event. The Bison crossed the finish line more than 15 seconds ahead of runner-up Buffalo.
Bucknell claimed the team points trophy at the Dad Vail Regatta, finishing first with 22 points, four ahead of second-place Duke.
The lightweight eight followed Saturday's performance with a silver medal at Sunday's Eastern Sprints. It was the boat's first-ever medal at the prestigious event as it crossed the finish line behind only Wisconsin.
The lightweight eight boat lineup in both races was: Caitlin Vogelsang (8), Hannah Rozowski-Vogt (7), Helena Craig (6), Hilary Strong (5), Adrian Edmonds (4), Elizabeth Aigler (3), Victoria Catharine (2), Jennifer Fish (1), with Jamie Coia serving as coxswain on Saturday and Alexandra Higbee filling that role on Sunday.
