PRINCETON, N.J. – With the second day of the IC4A/ECAC Championships in the books, Leonard Joseph (Whitesboro, N.Y./Clinton) and Kat Folger (Groton, Mass./Bishop Guertin) both earned All-East honors and two more Bison advanced to Sunday's finals at Weaver Stadium on Saturday. Joseph's citation in the hammer throw was the second of his career as he finished third overall. Folger finished second in the javelin.
Among those who will still be competing tomorrow are Jordan Donaldson (Saxton, Pa./Tussey Mountain) in the 800 and the men's 4x800 relay. Donaldson came out of the prelims with the seventh-best time at the meet at 1 minute, 50.73 seconds. He will race in the final tomorrow at 1:35 p.m.
The 4x800 finished seventh as well in 7:36.09. Dustin Horning (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown Area), Chris Oesterlin (Nahant, Mass./St. John's Prep), Dennis Logan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) and Tyler Erhard (Millerstown, Pa./East Juniata) will be included in tomorrow's 2:50 p.m. final.
Wrapping up their meet on Saturday were the Bison's first two All-East honorees. Joseph recorded a mark of 204 feet, 4 inches in the hammer. The junior's third-place finish was a step up from his performance a year ago when he was seventh and claimed his first All-East selection.
Folger's All-East citation was the first of her career as she continued her postseason run. The 2012 Patriot League champion in the javelin, Folger was second at today's ECAC meet with a throw of 152-9. Tayler Siegrist (Madison, N.J./Madison) also placed in the javelin at 14th (134-10).
In the decathlon, Sam Brandstadt (Utica, N.Y./Whitesboro) moved up one spot after day one's competition and ultimately finished 10th. The freshman totaled 5,725 points.
The women's 4x800 relay put up a strong showing in its preliminary heat, but Emily Waksmunski (Carrolltown, Pa./Bishop Carroll), Beth Braunegg (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock Twp.), Chelsea Lodato (Matwan, N.J./Great Bridge) and Caroline Tolli (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) could not advance to the final for a second straight year. The quartet finished 10th, one spot out of the qualifying group with a time of 9:08.05.
Other solid prelim performances included Kamal Riley (Hyde Park, Mass./Charlestown) in the 100 meters. The sophomore ran a career-best 10.77 seconds to place 15th. His time did put him on the program's top-10 list, however, at the No. 10 slot.
Bucknell will continue its championships tomorrow in the final day of competition. In addition to Donaldson and the men's 4x800, the Bison's lineup will also include Ray Holmes (Campbell, N.Y./Campbell-Savona Central) in the triple jump, Jason Brown (Plainville, Mass./Bishop Feehan) in the high jump and Barr, Quinten Marcott (Wayland, Mich./Wayland) and Stephen Koullias (Wyomissing Pa./Wyomissing) in the shot put. Emily Liggett (Grosse Point, Mich./Lawrenceville School (N.J.)) will be the lone Bison representative on the women's side on Sunday when she competes in the 3,000 meters. Liggett broke the Bucknell record in the 5,000 meters (16:51.95) on Friday night.
