WORCESTER, Mass. -- Sara Hennessey scored seven goals and Laura Ryan added six more to lead Holy Cross to a 20-5 victory over Bucknell in Patriot League women's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon. Lindsey Ferro tallied two goals and an assist to lead the Bison.
After a scoreless 7:45 to start the game, Hennessey found the net on a free-position shot. That was the first of 10 straight goals for the Crusaders (6-6, 2-2). Katelyn Miller scored Bucknell's first goal of the day with 3:47 left in the half, and Ferro and Emily Kookogey both scored in the final 25 seconds of the half to make it 11-3 at the break.
Holy Cross got those two goals back in the opening minutes of the second half, and by the time Hennessey scored her seventh of the day with 0:40 left, it was a 20-5 game.
Even though the Bison (3-10, 0-5) won the draw control battle 13-12, Holy Cross outshot the Bison 36-14 and scored six times on free-position shots.
Arriana Sajjad led the Bison with four draw controls. Kristina Patrk made her first career start in goal and finished with seven saves.
The Bison are back in action Tuesday at St. Bonaventure at 3 p.m.
