Bison Men's Golf Opens with 316 at Lafayette Invite

EASTON, Pa. -- After playing in a tournament at Longwood on Friday and Saturday, the Bucknell men's golf team showed off some of its depth by bringing in five new players for the Lafayette Invitational, which got underway on Sunday at Northampton Country Club. Led by a 77 from Billy Wright, the Bison posted a 316 team score and stand in 10th place.
Pat Hagerty added a 78, Thomas Walter a 79, J.J. Szmadzinski an 82 and Zach Pogust an 83. Wright is tied for 14th place individually after his 77.
Led by a 2-under-par 70 from Brandon Shin, Hofstra has the team lead with a score of 291. Fairleigh Dickinson is in second place but well back at 306. Shin has a three-stroke lead in the individual standings, ahead of teammate David Mecca, FDU's Eduardo Escobar and Saint Francis' Jeremy Foran.
Round two is slated for Monday morning.
