ANNAPOLIS, Md. –Sophomore Jennifer Brennan's second-place finish in the 100 back highlighted the second day of the ECAC Championships Saturday for the Bucknell women's swimming and diving team. The Bison are in sixth place in the team standings, 0.5 points ahead of fellow Patriot League member Army.
Brennan was one of two Bucknell competitors to finish first in an event prelim along with freshman diver Tara Boyle. Brennan beat out Navy's Toni Paruso by .12 seconds in the prelim, but Paruso bested Brennan in the final by more than one-half second. Brennan's finals time of 57.10 was her third-best mark of the year, behind only her times at last week's Patriot League Championships.
Boyle won the three-meter diving prelim with a career-best score of 256.20, the fifth-best mark in program history. However, her finals score dipped to 226.00 and she fell to fifth in the finals, but still scored valuable points for the Bison.
Brennan also scored points in the 100 fly, where she touched the wall 15th. She was the fourth Bison finisher, behind Elizabeth Porcellio (7th), Alex Panzarino (8th) and Kaitlyn Sweeney (9th). Porcellio's time of 57.34 moved her into the No. 7 spot in school history, one spot ahead of Panzarino.
Porcellio, who also scored in the 100 breast, and Brennan were two of three Bucknell swimmers who scored in multiple events on Saturday. Panzarino, who finished 11th in the 100 back and eighth in the 100 fly, joined the group.
Freshman Lauren Perry was Bucknell's only finals participant in the 200 free and she finished 10th in the event, just .24 seconds behind her career-best time that ranks second in program history.
The ECAC Championships will conclude Sunday with the prelims beginning at 9 a.m. and the finals 4 p.m.
