Bucknell Women's Swimming and Diving Opens ECAC Championships

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Freshman Lauren Perry finished fifth in the 50 free and classmate Tori Molchany took home fifth in the one-meter diving competition as the Bucknell women's swimming and diving team is listed eighth in the team standings following the first day of the ECAC Championships at Navy's Lejeune Hall. A total of eight Bison competed in individual events Friday, while two relay squads also swam.
Named to the All-Patriot League First Team earlier this week, Perry finished fifth in both the 50 free prelim and in the final. Her finals time of 24.30 seconds was just shy of her 23.85 she recorded at last week's Patriot League Championships that placed her eighth in the school record books.
Molchany also finished fifth in both the prelims and finals as she was the top finisher among three Bison divers entered in the event. Fellow rookie and Patriot League Champion Tara Boyle placed eighth, while senior Morgan Popple was 12th in the prelims.
Caroline Higgins was the only other Bucknell student-athlete outside of Perry, the freshmen divers and the two relay squads to advance to the finals of an event on Friday. The sophomore touched the wall 15th in the 50 free in 24.81, just shy of her season-best time of 24.73 posted in the prelims.
The ECAC Championships will continue Saturday. Prelims are scheduled for 10 a.m., while the finals are slated for a 6 p.m. start.
