LEWISBURG, Pa. - Basketball season is heading down the final stretch, but the Bucknell women's squad is picking up steam as it hosts its NCAA Pack the House promotion and Senior Night on Saturday. The Bison will take on Holy Cross at 7 p.m. at Sojka Pavilion while recognizing its fans' spirit and senior Christina Chukwuedo.
As part of its Pack the House promotion, Bucknell will be awarding $500 to a student group or organization that attends the game and shows the most spirit and enthusiasm as the Bison battle the Crusaders. One Bucknell faculty or staff department will also have the opportunity to win a catered lunch for up to 20 people courtesy of Bucknell Dining.
Additionally, six fans will have the opportunity to win $25 gift certificates for local restaurants as part of Bucknell's "Dinner on Us" promotion.
To thank the community for its continued support and to encourage their younger fans to attend the game, the Bison visited local elementary schools earlier this week. During the visits, the women's basketball team and Bucky Bison greeted students and their parents as they arrived at school and escorted them into the building. Students and players then had the opportunity to interact and read together before class. Students received a ticket voucher for free admission to Saturday's game.
Before Bucknell and Holy Cross square off this weekend, the Bison will recognize Chukwuedo as the squad's lone senior. The guard has played in 110 career games and ranks third in Sojka Pavilion history with 127 assists at her home facility. A co-captain, Chukwuedo ranks among the top five in the Patriot League in assists and assist/turnover ratio this winter.
After a thrilling 62-56 road win over Lehigh on Wednesday night, Bucknell is enjoying a three-game winning streak. The Bison are currently tied for sixth in the Patriot League standings with three regular-season games to go. Two of those contests will play out at Sojka Pavilion. After meeting Holy Cross on Saturday, the Bison will meet with American at 7 p.m. on Feb. 22 in their home finale.
