LEWISBURG, Pa. - Sophomores Erik Heinemann and Ben Seketa won two events apiece and the Bucknell men's swimming and diving team used its depth to its advantage as it defeated Binghamton, 171-128, Saturday afternoon at Kinney Natatorium. The Bison improved to 4-2 on the season as they captured their first-ever dual against the Bearcats.
Seketa won the 100-yard breaststroke and the 200 breast, while Heinemann took home first in the 200 fly and 500 free. Cameron James (200 free), Chris Ortiz (100 free) and Mike Nicholson (200 back) also posted wins for the Bison, who claimed first in the 200 medley relay and 400 free relay as well.
Overall, Bucknell won nine of the 16 events contested. It also had nine second-place showings and swept the top three spots in the 200 free (James, Matt Hadley, Christian Treat). Trevor Reitz had a pair of second-place finishes in the 50 free and 100 free, while Billy Krause was second in the 200 fly and 200 IM.
Freshman Tyler Wenzel finished second off the one-meter diving board, but his career-best score of 261.68 moved him up to fourth on the program's all-time list. Wenzel entered the day in sixth place on that list.
Bucknell will now be idle until a dual meet at Columbia on Jan. 5. Start time for that meet is 1 p.m. in New York, N.Y.
