BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Freshman Luke Edelman wrapped up a terrific weekend with a 2-over-par 74, and the Bucknell men's golf team wrapped up the fall season Sunday with a fifth-place finish at the Lehigh Invitational at breezy Saucon Valley CC. Edelman was 2-over for the tournament and finished in a tie for third place in the individual standings, his second top-3 finish of the season.
Bucknell shot 309 on Sunday and 617 for the tournament. Villanova ran away with the team title with a 580 total, outdistancing runner-up Rutgers by 16 shots. Fordham took third with a 600 team score, followed by Lehigh (603), Bucknell, Lafayette (622), Siena (627) and Colgate (632).
Edelman ended up just three shots off the lead with his 2-over total of 144. Villanova's Michael Kania opened with a 4-under 68 on Saturday. He followed that up with a 75 on Sunday, but that was good enough for a one-stroke win over teammate Steve Skurla. Edelman joined Villanova's Cory Siegfried and Rutgers' Doug Walters in a three-way tie for third. Walters' 1-under 71 was the low round of the day.
Also for Bucknell on Sunday, Dan Bernard posted a 78 to give him a 36-hole total of 155, good for a T-21st finish. Zach Pogust also shot 78, Schuyler Stitzer carded a 79 and J.J. Szmadzinski finished with an 80.
