ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Jon Hartman and Schuyler Stitzer both finished with rounds of 1-over-par 72, but the Bucknell men's golf team had too big of a hill to climb and ended up in a tie for fifth place at the Patriot League Championship, which wrapped up Sunday at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Course. Stitzer, a freshman playing in his first conference tourney, was Bucknell's top finisher at T-13th.
Army totaled 870 for 54 holes and won the title by four shots over host Navy and by nine over defending champion Lafayette, which had the low round of the day with a 284. Bucknell closed with a 295, its best of the weekend, and its 900 total equaled Lehigh for the No. 5 spot.
Stitzer's 72 followed rounds of 75-76, and he finished just three shots outside the top 10 and was 10 back of the winning score of 213 posted by Army's Matt Krembel.
Will Bachman began the day in a tie for fifth place but finished with an 80 and slipped down to T-17th. Hartman finished 16th after rounds of 75-78-72.
Also for Bucknell on Sunday, Parker Phillips had a good day with a 74, Ben Mattingly shot 77, and Dan Bernard closed with a 78.
