ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Bucknell men's golf team braved miserable playing conditions Saturday in the opening round of the Navy Spring Invitational, and led by a 78 from senior Ben Mattingly, the Bison posted a 319 team total and sit in 10th place out of 20 teams.
Will Bachman followed Mattingly with a 79, while Schuyler Stitzer posted an 80, Jon Hartman an 82 and Andrew Wallisch an 86.
TCU and Columbia both shot 302 to share the team lead. Lafayette is third at 307, followed by host Navy at 310 and Loyola (Md.) at 311. Lehigh (314), St. Bonaventure (315), Rhode Island (317), St. Joseph's (318) and Bucknell (319) round out the top 10.
The individual leaderboard is tightly bunched as well. Columbia's Clark Granum and Drexel's James Braunsburg both shot 2-over 73. Alex Redfearn of Loyola is third after shooting a 74, and 32 players are within five shots of the lead.
Round two is slated for Sunday morning.
