Mattingly, Bison Much Improved in Round 2 at C&F Bank Intercollegiate

WILLIAMSBURG, Pa. -- Ben Mattingly fired a 1-under-par 71, epitomizing Bucknell's big improvement in the second and final round of the C&F Bank Intercollegiate on Tuesday. In their first tournament of the spring season, the Bison improved by 15 strokes in round two, posting a 303 team score. Mattingly's score was 12 shots better than his opening round.
Dan Bernard and Schuyler Stitzer also had solid final rounds, both posting 76s. J.J. Szmadzinski and Will Bachman both finished with 80s.
James Madison shot 572 over 36 holes and won the team title by eight shots over Radford. South Carolina Upstate finished third at 582, followed by UNC Greensboro at 585 and Towson at 588. The Bison finished 21st in the 24-team field.
Ryan Vince of JMU won the individual title in a playoff over teammate Chris Welde and Delaware's Justin Martinson. All three finished at 3-under par.
The Bison are back in action on Apr. 2 at the Wilmington Invitational at Frog Hollow GC in Middletown, Del.
