LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell women's track and field received its fourth consecutive Patriot League Rookie of the Week honor on Monday thanks to Erin Holbrook's (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora) performance at the Yale Giegengack Invitational last weekend. The Bison freshman put up a personal-best time of 2:20.63 in the 800 meters to earn her first career citation from the league.
Holbrook becomes one of three Bison to add the title of Rookie of the Week to her resume this season. She joins Jennifer Zymet (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) and Hana Casalnova (Grove City, Pa./Grove City), who has won the award twice, on Bucknell's list of award winners. The newcomers are the only Bucknellians to be recognized by the league this season.
Holbrook's time was a product of steady improvement from the beginning of the season. After beginning her career with a 2:26.04 in her collegiate debut at the Bison Opener in December, Holbrook has improved her time in each of her 800 races since. The East Aurora, N.Y., native's latest effort was her best yet and earned her 17th place at Yale.
The Orange and Blue will be back on the track on Saturday when they host the Bucknell Winter Classic at Gerhard Fieldhouse. The meet is the last before the Patriot League Championships at Navy Feb. 18-20.
