LEWISBURG, Pa. – Senior Meghan O'Reilly (Willington, Conn./Edwin O. Smith), a member of the Bucknell women's rowing team, was named a Lightweight All-American by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA), it was announced this week. It is the second postseason honor for O'Reilly this year, following her National Scholar-Athlete award from the CRCA last month.
With O'Reilly's honor, Bucknell has now had six different student-athletes earn a total of seven Lightweight All-America certificates since 2007.
O'Reilly was a member of the lightweight eight all year, stroking the boat most of the year until concluding the season in the six seat. The lightweight eight is coming off an impressive fifth-place showing at last weekend's IRA National Championship Regatta and it took third in the second varsity eight event at the New England/Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships last month.
O'Reilly recently graduated from Bucknell with a degree in French. Her final grade-point average was better than 3.8 and she posted a perfect 4.0 her final semester. She was a three-time CRCA National Scholar-Athlete.
