LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell senior Andrew Cohen (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck), a former Patriot League men's golf champion and one of the top players in program history, received a special award at the University's annual Senior Athletic Awards Banquet, sponsored by the Bison Club and held in the Terrace Room on campus on May 4.
Cohen won the Lee S. "Bud" Ranck Memorial Award, presented for outstanding spirit and contributions to the Bucknell athletics program. Cohen shared the award with Chelsey Musante of the women's track and field team.
In addition to Cohen and Musante, several other student-athletes were honored at the banquet, including the winners of the Christy Mathewson Award, given to the most outstanding athletes in the senior class. Patriot League and Eastern champion swimmer Courtney Warren and two-time All-America wrestler Andy Rendos won the Mathewson Awards.
This spring Cohen earned his fourth straight All-Patriot League medal after finishing in a tie for 10th place at the Patriot League Championship. He became only the sixth four-time all-conference player in league history. Cohen was the Patriot League Rookie of the Year after a T-4th finish in 2007 and he was the 2009 Patriot League champion while leading the Bison to their third team championship in four years.
In the 2009 fall season he finished 3rd-1st-2nd-3rd-4th in his five events and broke the school record with a 72.4 fall scoring average. His 73.2 average for the full 2009-10 season is also a program record. The highlight of Cohen's spring season was his final-round 6-under 66 that lifted him to victory at the Lafayette Invitational. The score was a school 18-hole record in relation to par.
In his career, Cohen won individual titles at four tournaments and finished in the top 10 18 times, including in 15 of his final 22 career appearances.
