LAKEWOOD, N.J. -- Ryan Schneiter (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) shot a 2-over-par 74 to get into a playoff for the individual title, and the Bucknell men's golf team tied for second place at the Monmouth Hawk Spring Invitational, which wrapped up Sunday at Eagle Ridge GC. Schneiter, who was 2-under entering the day, joined Rider's Eric Lafante atop the individual leaderboard at even par, but Lafante won it on the first playoff hole.
Bucknell shot 310 as a team after posting a 295 on Saturday. The 605 total was tied with Rider and Saint Francis (Pa.), but was eight shots behind come-from-behind winner Sacred Heart, which closed with a 292. Bucknell and Rider were tied for first entering the final round.
In addition to Schneiter's 74, Bucknell received a 77 from Will Bachman (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley), a 79 from J.J. Szmadzinski (Northville, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central), an 80 from Parker Phillips (Laguna Beach, Calif./St. Margaret's Episcopal) and an 86 from Andrew Wallisch (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel).
Bachman (T-9th) and Szmadzinski (T-15th) both finished in the top 20. Bucknell's top three scorers -- Andrew Cohen, Brian Bartow and Ben Mattingly -- all took the week off.
The only other Patriot League team in the field was Lafayette, which shot 609 and finished fifth in the 12-team field.
Bucknell will be back in action on Apr. 10-11 at the Lafayette Invitational at Center Valley GC.
