ALFRED, N.Y. - The Bucknell women's lacrosse team fell to St. Bonaventure 19-6 on Tuesday afternoon, despite two goals apiece from Julia Braun (Tomkins Cove, N.Y./North Rockland) and Becca Devine (Arlington, Va./St. Stephen's & St. Agnes). Danielle Drabin had four goals and two assists for the Bonnies in a game that had to be moved to the campus of Alfred University due to unplayable field conditions at St. Bonaventure.
The Bison dropped their eighth game in a row and fell to 1-9 on the season, while St. Bonaventure evened its record at 4-4 after collecting its third straight victory.
Bucknell took a 1-0 lead just 1:32 into the game when Devine scored off a feed from Chelsea Peters (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor), but the Bonnies scored five times in a five-minute span and tallied six in a row overall to grab a commanding 6-1 lead.
Despite a Peters goal with 18 seconds left in the half, it was a 9-3 game at halftime, and then the Bonnies picked up the first three of the second period to go up 12-3.
Bucknell outscored St. Bonaventure 3-1 over a five-minute stretch in the middle part of the second period, with Ryan Gribbon (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephen's & St. Agnes), Devine and Braun tallying the goals. But the Bison could get no closer than seven, and the Bonnies showed no mercy, tacking on three goals in the final three minutes to extend the final margin to 19-6.
St. Bonaventure finished with a 32-19 shot advantage, and the Bison struggled with their shooting accuracy, placing only nine of 19 on goal. They were just 1-for-6 on free-position attempts.
Daisy Timlin and Christine Hanley also scored four goals each of the Bonnies. Alyssa DeLorenz (Garland, Texas/Plano East) finished with four saves, while her counterpart Tori Waheibi had three.
The Bison return to Patriot League play on Saturday, visiting Lafayette at 1:30 p.m. The game will air live on BisonVision.
