CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (Rivanna Reservoir) – On its way back from its Spring Break trip to Elberton, Ga., the Bucknell women's rowing team stopped off at the Rivanna Reservoir to face No. 3 Virginia on Sunday. The Bison lost all five races to the Cavaliers, whose varsity eight earned a runner-up finish at last year's NCAA Championships.
Bucknell's varsity eight took third, behind Virginia's varsity eight and second varsity eight, while each of the other races had just two boats. The closest race of the five was the varsity eight, where Bucknell was less than 3.5 seconds behind Virginia's second varsity eight for second place.
A total of four Bison varsity eight boats raced on Sunday, while the novice eight also competed.
Bucknell will head south from Lewisburg next week to compete at the Occoquan Sprints in Fairfax, Va., on Sunday.
