LEWISBURG, Pa. - Sophomore Trisha Krewson (Sandusky, Ohio/Perkins) was named Second Team All-Patriot League and freshman Rachel Voss (Cincinnati, Ohio/Loveland) earned a spot on the All-Rookie squad when the league's award winners were announced on Tuesday. Krewson, who was selected as the Patriot League Rookie of the Year a season ago, is the 16th Bison to earn a second team citation. Voss is also the 16th member of Bucknell women's basketball to claim all-rookie honors.
Bucknell has placed at least two student-athletes on all-league or all-rookie teams every season except for one since the first year of the Patriot League in 1990-91. That exception came in 2007-08 when Hope Foster earned a first team citation and the Bison advanced to their second NCAA Tournament in program history. Bucknell has earned 49 Patriot League postseason honors from 22 different players during that time.
In just her second season in the Orange and Blue, Krewson was selected to the league's second team after leading the Bison in scoring with 12.5 points per game, including a 14.0 scoring average in Patriot League action. The guard's .409 three-point field goal percentage (56-for-137) is also tops among Bison and ranks in the top 40 nationally.
Krewson reached a number of career marks leading to her first Player of the Week citation from the league in January. Krewson totaled 30 points against Lycoming, shooting 10-for-16 from the field and 8-for-12 from three-point distance. The 30 points was the first for a Bison since three-time all-league performer Desire Almind in 2004, while her eight made three-pointers doubled the previous Sojka Pavilion record and tied a program record. Krewson then went on to total 25 points on 7-for-11 shooting from three-point distance in Bucknell's next game at Buffalo.
The second-team selection is the second postseason award for Krewson in her young career. In addition to being named Bucknell's fifth Patriot League Rookie of the Year last season, she also earned a spot on the All-Rookie Team. Her honors have come in the classroom as well. Krewson was voted and ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District First Team selection last month after posting a 3.97 cumulative grade point average while majoring in English and minoring in Spanish.
Voss has twice been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week this season leading to her first postseason honor. In her debut campaign, the freshman guard is averaging 6.1 points and a team-leading 2.2 assists per game. Voss worked her way into the Bison's rotation immediately, earning her first starting assignment in Bucknell's season opener and scoring 10 points and dishing out four assists.
Voss became the fifth Bison this season to score 20 points when she reached the total against Colgate in late January. She also set a career high in rebounds with nine in that contest.
Among the Patriot League major award winners were American's Michelle Kirk, earning Player of the Year honors, Navy's Angela Myers (Defensive Player of the Year), Colgate's Jhazmine Lynch (Rookie of the Year) and Army's Erin Anthony (Scholar-Athlete of the Year). American's Matt Corkery was selected Coach of the Year.
Bucknell will be back in action on Saturday, March 6 with the first round of the Patriot League Tournament. The No. 8 Bison will take on No. 1 Lehigh at 2:30 p.m. at Holy Cross' Hart Center in Worcester, Mass. The winner will advance to the semifinals on Sunday to face the winner of Army vs. Holy Cross at 1 p.m.
