WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Bucknell women's swimming and diving team finished first in 10 of the first 12 swimming events as it defeated George Washington 151.5-105.5 Sunday afternoon. The win helped the Bison complete a 2-0 weekend as it defeated George Mason by 33 points on Saturday.
Freshman Jennifer Brennan was the only double winner for Bucknell as she claimed first in the 100 back (1:01.35) and 200 back (2:12.19).
Fellow freshman Emily Wright bettered her performance from Saturday's meet at George Mason when she tied for 10th in Bucknell's record books in the 100 free. On Sunday, she recorded a time of 52.92 seconds, .18 better than her time from a day earlier as she remains in 10th place.
Wright, who was also part of the winning 200 medley relay and 400 free relay squads, tied for first in the 50 free on Sunday. Her time of 24.19 was exactly the same as George Washington's Paola Leor.
Freshman Kelly Pontecorvo won the 1,000 free and placed second in the 500 free as more than half of Bucknell's nine individual victories came from rookies. Pontecorvo's time of 10:27.60 in the 1,000 free was just .53 off her season best from two weeks ago at UMBC that ranks sixth in program history.
Macey Keath (100 breast), Alexandra Psaris (200 fly), Elizabeth Porcellio (200 breast) and Kaitlyn Sweeney (100 fly) also posted victories against the Colonials. Porcellio's win was especially impressive as she defeated runner-up Keath by nearly six seconds with a time of 2:25.13.
Bucknell (2-0) will make its first appearance at Kinney Natatorium in two weeks when it hosts American, Lafayette and Navy in a quad meet. Start time for that event is 12 p.m.
