LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell junior Minjoo Lee (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) captured her third career Choice Hotels Big South Golfer of the Week award on Friday after claiming individual and team championships at the Wendy's Invitational in Charleston, S.C. earlier in the week. It was Lee's first career victory, and she led the Bison to their second team championship of the fall season.
Playing at the par-71 Coosaw Creek Country Club, Lee posted rounds of 74 and 72 to win the event by one shot over teammate Kasha Scott and Radford's Hannah Coles, who boasts the lowest scoring average in the Big South (75.3). Lee's final-round 72 was part of a 298 team score that lifted Bucknell to an 11-shot victory over runner-up UAB.
Lee became the fifth player in the 13-year history of the Bucknell women's golf program to win an individual title, joining teammate Katie Jurenovich earlier this season along with Jess Hetrich (2001-02), Celine Herbin (2003-04) and Teri Schlang (2006-07).
The team victory was Bucknell's third all-time and second this season, but it was the first on a visiting golf course. The two previous wins both came at the Bucknell Invitational.
Earlier in the week, Lee finished T-15th at the Rutgers Invitational, helping the Bison to a second-place finish in a 20-team field.
Lee finished the fall season with a team-best 76.92 scoring average, just missing her own school record of 76.90, set last fall. Her 2010 figure ranks 10th in the Big South.
Bucknell's fall season is now complete, and the team will resume competition on Feb. 20-22, 2011 at the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic.
