Bucknell Track & Field Announces Class of 2013 Recruits

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell men's and women's track and field head coach Kevin Donner announced the program's newest recruiting class on Wednesday. The Bison men's team will welcome 25 student-athletes for the 2009-10 season, while the women's squad adds 19 newcomers. The newest arrivals will join a team with a history of success, including an unprecedented series of top-two finishes at the Patriot League Championships and another women's outdoor track and field title this spring.
“I am very pleased with our overall recruiting year,” said Donner. “Although we have a very good team returning, I see many of these newcomers contributing right away. A number of these athletes placed pretty high in their respective state meets.”
The men's and women's recruiting classes boast student-athletes from 10 states across the country, ranging from as far as Texas, home of thrower Erik Yarmey, to Bucknell's backyard with Lewisburg Area High School's Leah Bettner.
Bucknell women's track and field is coming fresh off a Patriot League Outdoor Championship, its ninth title in 11 years. The team also placed second at the league's indoor championships this winter, giving it 12 consecutive top-two finishes. The Bison men earned their third straight top-three finish at both the indoor and outdoor meets when they took second place at each of the 2009 championship contests.
