LEWISBURG, Pa. – A key cog in the Bucknell women's rowing team's four consecutive Patriot League titles has garnered some national attention for the Bison. Senior Page Kannor (Boise, Idaho/Boise), a four-year member of the varsity eight, appears in this week's issue of Sports Illustrated magazine as one of six athletes highlighted in the publication's Faces in the Crowd section. The issue is dated June 1, 2009.
Kannor, who graduated earlier this month with a degree in animal behavior, was the first person in program and Patriot League history to be a member of the conference's Boat of the Year four times as she rowed with the varsity eight starting as a freshman in 2006.
An All-Patriot League selection this spring, Kannor earned the Christy Mathewson Award as Bucknell's top senior athlete and was named a Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association First Team All-Mid-Atlantic choice earlier this week.
Outside of rowing, Kannor was a member of the Rooke Chapel Choir and was a keynote speaker at Bucknell's National Girls and Women in Sports Day Luncheon. She is expected to move to Hawai'i and begin work on the conservation and monitoring of the endangered hawksbill sea turtle.
Kannor is Bucknell's first student-athlete to appear in Sports Illustrated's Faces in the Crowd section since men's golfer Charlie Waddell was in the May 8, 2006, issue.
