WEST POINT, N.Y. - After only winning one doubles match to open the quarterfinals of the Patriot League Tournament against Lehigh, Bucknell's men's tennis team charged to a 4-2 victory, winning four the next five singles matches before the victory was clinched Friday morning at Malek Courts.
The Bison clinched a berth in Saturday's 10 a.m. semifinal match against No. 1 seeded Navy with freshman Clark Bogle's win over Chris Collins, 3-6, 7-5, 6-0. It was Bogle's first win as he was playing just his second match this spring, but it gave the Bison the win with a score 4-2.
Sophomore Anton Kovic (Montreal, Quebec/Milton Academy (Mass.)) and senior Ryan Sandburg (Orange, Calif./Canyon) got the sole Bison doubles win, in the first flight, winning 8-3. Senior Daniel Bednarek (Haworth, N.J./Bergen Catholic), sophomore Mark Malloy (Bronxville, N.Y./Hackley School) and freshman Gregg Cohenca (Purchase, N.Y./Rye Country Day School) each picked up singles wins to contribute for Bucknell.
