LEWISBURG, Pa. – The weekend of Jan. 30-31 brought some of Bucknell track and field member Chelsey Musante's (Shelton, Conn./Shelton Central) best performances this season. Her accomplishments at the Penn State Invitational and Bison Open earned her ECAC Field Athlete of the Week honors.
On Friday, the Bison junior continued to heave herself up the all-time list of Bucknell throwers at the Penn State National Invitational at Ashenfelter Track with a mark of 56 feet, 8 ¼ inches in the weight throw, where she placed ninth among stacked competition. The throw was the second best in school history and also an ECAC-qualifying mark. She competed the next day at the Bison Open in Gerhard Fieldhouse and won the weight throw with a toss of 52-4 ¾, and she placed third in the shot put with a toss of 41-0 ¼. Musante has thrown over 50-0 feet in the weight throw five times this indoor season and over 40-0 feet three times in the shot put.
This is the first time she has been honored by the ECAC, but her second honor of the week. On Feb. 3 she earned Patriot League Athlete of the Week honors.
Musante and her Bucknell teammates return to University Park, Pa., on Feb. 6-7 for Penn State's Sykes-Sabock Challenge, which is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. on Friday at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
